Yigong Shi

Yigong Shi received his B.S. from Tsinghua University in 1989 and his Ph.D. in Molecular Biophysics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1995. He previously served as Professor of Molecular Biology at Princeton University and later returned to China to teach at Tsinghua University. He is currently President of Westlake University and Director of the Westlake Institute for Advanced Study (WIAS).
A leading structural biologist, Professor Shi has made major contributions to understanding the structure and mechanisms of key biological macromolecules, including caspases, γ-secretase, and the spliceosome. His honors include the Aminoff Prize of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, the Future Science Prize in Life Sciences, and the Ho Leung Ho Lee Science and Technology Achievement Award.
