Yu Xiang insists on using black and white film to record the historical changes of Suzhou City. From Panmen Gate to Pingjiang Road, he retains the memory of an old city within each of his photos. In Suzhou, in the midst of the roads, river and gates, the context of time is contained. The black and white film is clearly highlighted with the ‘colors’ from the expressions of the people in the photos, and the photos come alive. His works have been published in journals at home and abroad, including the Chinese National Geography and the Global City Geography. His published photography collections include ‘Among the Pingjiang Road’ and ‘Around the Panmen Gate’.

Zhao Xuetun is keen on observing the modern charms of Suzhou City from a high vantage point. Aimed at capturing modernity among the clouds, he records the melodious skyline of Suzhou with his camera lens. Zhao believes that photography is not simply about photographic recording, but it is more about a city, the people and the life that have been well loved and should be well preserved.
